Factors causing lifestyle diseases

This post is in continuation with my previous post where I wrote about the increase in lifestyle disesases amongst younger people.

Lets take a look at some of the factors responsible for these diseases:

  1. Hectic lifestyle - No time for self
  2. Processed / Junk Food
  3. Excessive usage of insecticides and pesticides
  4. Lack of variety
  5. Crash diets
  6. Cola based drinks and caffeinated beverages
  7. Less nutrients in our food
  8. Soil Depletion of important minerals

The above listed factors are responsible for our bodies not getting proper nutrition and thus being low on immunity. We cannot fight these diseases like our forefathers could. The nutrition in food that they consumed was far higher than the nutition in food that we consume. There is a growing nutrition gap in our daily diet that we must look to fill in to enjoy healthier body and life.

The conversion of Degenerative Diseases to Lifestyle Diseases

Diabetes, Heart Attack, Blood Pressure, Stroke, High Cholestrol... Throughout my childhood I have heard about people in their fifties or sixties suffering from these problems. Now at 28 years of age, I see people my age or even younger to me suffering from these!

These are no more Degenerative diseases - which would affect a person because of old age, they have become Lifestyle diseases - the diseases which affect a person because of their lifestyle. More and more young people are increasingly becoming unwell. In our country, we see cases of diabetes in kids as young as 16 years old! No wonder India is being called the 'Disease Capital of the World'.

Now the question is - Can this be prevented?

A large chunk of India's population is youth below 40 years of age. With these diseases now striking Inida's youth, it is high time that we take a look at the factors causing them and ways to eliminate them.

Look out for my next post to identify the causes of above and ways to eliminate them
